"Honda in Alabama - An Overview of Honda Vehicle and Engine Production in Lincoln

On Thursday, June 4th at 10 a.m. Ted Pratt, Department Manager of
Corporate Affairs & Communication for Honda Manufacturing of Alabama
 in Lincoln, will present a PowerPoint program covering the history of the
 Honda Manufacturing facility in Lincoln, Alabama which began operations
 in 2001. Since that time the company has built more than 3.2 million
 vehicles and engines in Alabama, and is the exclusive producer of the
 Odyssey minivan, the Pilot SUV and the Acura MDX luxury SUV.

In November, 1926 Sloss Furnaces started a small monthly publication known as Pig Iron Rough Notes.   Russell Hunt, the editor, realizing the passion foundrymen had for the “great outdoors,” encouraged his readers to submit their hunting and fishing experiences, as well as the recipes that resulted from these outdoor activities.    This PowerPoint presentation will include lots of fun and unique recipes.

Electricity: Can't Live without It!

Please join us on Thursday, April 2nd at 10 a.m.  Dr. Atkins, author of "Developed for the Service of Alabama," The Centennial History of the Alabama Power Company 1906 - 2006, will discuss the beginnings of the modernization of Alabama as the result of an adequate and reliable supply of electricity.  She will show how the history of Alabama Power Company has been impacted by the history of the state and nation as result of depressions,   recessions and wartime periods.

 

March Family Movie Night

Please join us on Monday, March 23rd at 5:30 p.m. in the Storytime
Room.  When Dusty learns that his engine is damaged and he may
never race again, he joins a forest fire and rescue unit to be trained
as a firefighter, or else his air strip will be shut down.  Free admission.
