Bank on Birmingham

Please join us on Thursday, August 28th from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. for Bank on Birmingham Financial Education Snack & Learn. A light meal and some heavy knowledge will be dished out at this one-hour event. Designed to provide valuable information to all adults and older youth. Topics covered will include banking, credit, financial management and budgeting, ID theft, home ownership and renting as well as small business finance. Registration is required. August Family Movie Night

Please join us on Monday, August 11th at 5:30 p.m. for Family Movie Night. Lovable Sulley and his wisecracking sidekick Mike are the top scare team at Monsters, Inc., the scream-processing factory in Monstropolis. When a little girl named Boo wanders into their world, it's the monsters who are scared silly, and it's up to Sulley and Mike to keep her out of sight and get her back home. Free admission.

Miss Fancy

Please join us on Thursday, August 7th at 10 a.m. Jim Baggett, Head of the Dept. of Archives at Birmingham Public Library, will present a program on Miss Fancy, the first elephant purchased for the animal collection at Avondale Park, which was the early beginnings of the Birmingham Zoo. Find out about the exploits of this famous Birmingham icon of the early 1900's.

Gateway to Nature

On Thursday, July 10th at 10 a.m., Roald Hazelhoff, Director of the Southern Environmental Center at Birmingham-Southern College, will use a PowerPoint presentation to share his vision of changing Birmingham into an eco-friendly hub and destination city by transforming blighted areas into attractive landscapes which he calls Ecoscapes.
